Have you ever wondered what goes into preparing for a newborn photography session in Tampa? Let's take a peek behind the scenes of my process and discover how I get ready for a newborn session!
Pre-session prep:
During my booking process, I always ask the parents what colors they would like for their newborn photo session. Usually, these colors are based around the colors they like for their home or their nursery. Once they tell me the colors that they love, I start looking at the items I have around those colors and what complements them. I lay out all of my newborn items that fit their colors and build out their setups for their newborn session.
newborn Studio setup:
My newborn studio is setup in two parts. One section is my seating area for parents to sit and relax complete with waters and snacks. In the main part of my studio, it's my shooting space where all of my newborn setups are. When I am getting ready for a newborn session, I first lay them out on my big table to see how the colors and textures fit. Once I figure out that part, I lay out all of my setups in the room so that when my clients arrive we are ready to go for their session. This takes so much stress off my clients when they only have to worry about showing up with with their little family and leave all the prep up to me.
Prop Selection:
I take great joy in selecting the perfect props, swaddles, and accessories for all of my newborn sessions. My style is simple, timeless and colorful, so taking all that into consideration, I love choosing items that play together in a neutral way so that it complements the colors they are looking for, but the baby is the shining star. All of my props are wood or white in color making them a beautiful neutral base that fits every decor.
